“Black Out Speak Out”: The Movement Against Bill C-38

Elizabeth May (Green Party) has had her fair share of criticism from across Canada. As the only Green Party member in the House of Commons, she sometimes falls victim to mockery, especially from those on the far right.

Even I admit to having a chuckle or two at her expense from time to time. But not this week.

Coincidentally following up with my post last Thursday about environmental security, we now find ourselves facing up against the Conservative Party’s so-called omnibus Bill C-38.

So, what is this bill?
Let me explain, so you can understand exactly what everybody is getting upset about.

Mr. Harper’s government has put forward this bill in an effort to stimulate the economy and balance the budget. Considering the economic recession of the past four years, that sounds like a smart move. Sounds good, right?

But there’s a downside.
