Map of Toronto: “Magic & Might”

You know I’m obsessed with maps.

This particular one was featured on the Torontoist  yesterday. It’s amazing. Looks like I live somewhere in the land of Cabbagetown Trolls. Well… close enough. Where are the Knights of St. James Town?!

Take a look and tell us where you live.

Wouldn’t this make an amazing D&D game?

“Much More Of A Harper”

I have an amusing story to share today.

Recently, I referred to myself as an individual who is often harping on people to do things, reminding them to address this task or that issue. I constantly have a to-do list.

That was in direct contrast to someone else, who doesn’t nag quite so much.

I said that she “isn’t quite so much of a harper.”

… implying that I’m much more of a harper? o_o

And this was over the phone, so it’s not as though capital letters can be perceived. Whoops. You can imagine the misunderstanding that arose during that conversation.

Backtrackbacktrackbacktrack — I’m not a Harper!! 😥

“Animal Farm vs. America”

I came across this great article today about a 14-year-old girl who, completely unprompted, wrote an analysis comparing the problematic similarities between George Orwell’s Animal Farm and the current status of the USA.

Click the image to read the rest of her analysis. The conclusion is great.

Angela: As Seen on TV!

Whoa! I’m getting my “fifteen seconds of fame”!

Check out this Global News article that just came out today, featuring an 8-minute video!
And make sure to pay close attention to what happens at 0:55 in the clip. (BELOW)

The camera follows Linda (and therefore me by proxy) across the front of the room for a few seconds!

This happened today.

We slid a plate underneath the shirt to keep the canvass flat. :D

Project Unbreakable

This is one of the inspiring little gems of the internet.

Some participants preferred not to show their faces. I can understand why.

Project Unbreakable is an online photography project depicting victims of sexual abuse, holding up signs with the words their attackers used against them.

Response: “6 Reasons to NOT Send Your Daughter to College”

It doesn’t matter how intelligent she is, or whether she’s capable of accomplishing great things. It doesn’t matter what kind of a successful career she wants. All that matters is making sure she becomes a mother — without delay.

That’s what I’m getting out of this article. It blows my mind.

READ IT.

Done?  Good. Welcome back.
I hope you’re already foaming at the mouth with indignation.

They’ve got a pretty horrifying list: everything from her earning potential, her value as a homemaker, and, of course, insisting that she will regret it.

I’m rather dumbfounded that these are the excuses people are making to deprive their own daughters of an education — and the daughters of everyone in their religious community, too!

Basic Etiquette for the Big City

This article was designed for a trip to NYC.  As someone who loves the occasional visit to New York, I’m finding it very useful.

This. Happens. All. The. Time.

But you know what? Most of these tips are extremely helpful even if you live in a different big city… oh, I don’t know… like maybe here in Toronto?

Check it out here.

Many things keep happening to me.

I swear I’m not even causing them anymore. They’re just… happening. o_o

Like this. This happened today as I was leaving one of the events I helped organize.
I’m still very confused about it all.

I don't know what I did to cause them to assume this. o_o
